Certificates

SAGA products have several certifications that show that our products are safe and reliable to use. Certifications are proof that products meet the requirements set by legislation, for example. The certificates are granted by a third party who also evaluates, tests or audits the compliance of the products.

Food contact

The Framework Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 (L338/4) states that food contact materials shall be safe. They shall not transfer their components into the food in quantities that could endanger human health, change the composition of the food in an unacceptable way or deteriorate the taste and odour of foodstuffs.

If an article is intended for food contact it shall be labelled for food contact or bear the symbol with a glass and fork. In cases where the intention for food contact is obvious by the nature of the article e.g. knife, fork, wine glass, this labelling is not obligatory.

SAGA products are tested for suitability for food contact by independent third party organizations. All raw materials are approved for food contact. Our production sites have been certified according ISO 22000, BCR-CP or IFS-HPC hygiene management standards.

The Swan Label

The Swan is the official Nordic ecolabel that demonstrates when a product is a good environmental choice.

A Swan labelled grease-proof paper is amongst the least environmental hazardous within its group and A Swan label on a grease-proof paper shows that the product fulfils strict environmental requirements.

Requirements imposed are based on a life cycle assessment of the product and concern production, use and waste. In the case of grease-proof paper this is achieved by using certified raw materials, but limiting the use of environmentally harmful chemicals, by producing low emissions to air and water and by reducing the energy consumption.
